In season 16 of American Idol, there were two LGBTQ contestants, Ada Vox and Jurnee, that not only made into the competition but were in the top 10. Many viewers like Maddie Cusick (10) were astounded and believed that “this year’s talent was off the charts and that it was a hard decision for the judges.” With just weeks away from the new “Idol”, stay tuned on ABC for American Idol. This practice changed when Idol, which previously aired on FOX from 2002-2016, returned after a two year hiatus on ABC. In the end, the top 10 includes: Ada Vox, Cade Foehner, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Catie Turner, Dennis Lorenzo, Gabby Barrett, Jurnee, Maddie Poppe, Michael J. At the end of the show, Ryan announced that the top 10 is going to Disneyland, which brightened the mood after the four talented singers were sent home. For Jurnee, Ada Vox, and Dennis Lorenzo, the judges believed that they deserved to be in the top 10 despite America’s opinion. Unfortunately for Marcio Donaldson, Garrett Jacobs, Jonny Brenns, and Mara Justine were eliminated, even after giving some of the best performances of the season. These singers were all safe by the nationwide vote and continue to wow the judges and the viewers at home with phenomenal performances like these ones. American Idol cuts Adam Ada Vox Sanders, Michelle Sussett and Dennis. Woodard who sang “Believe in Yourself” from The Wiz, Catie Turner who sang “Havana” by Camila Cabello, and Gabby Barrett who sang “Little Red Wagon” by Miranda Lambert (ew.com). American Idol will be coming back to ABC after a successful revival. Other standouts include Cade Foehner who sang “Bright Lights” by Gary Clark, Jr., Caleb Lee Hutchinson who sang “Getting You Home” by Chris Young, Michael J. Michelle risked it all by singing an original called “I’m a Dreamer”. She was in danger of leaving so she gave an awesome performance. The next person to receive her fate, was Michelle Susset. First to perform was Maddie Poppe, Ryan announced that she was safe and then proceeded to sing “Walk Like An Egyptian” by The Bangles. The show started off with Ryan Seacrest announcing that each performer would perform, but before their performance, he would tell them if they had made it into the top 10. Anyways, let’s get into a recap of the results show. It was an emotional night where many of the nation’s favorites had to go home. Six of the spots are chosen by the nationwide vote, while the other four are chosen by the judges and their thoughts about the performance. On April 22, the top 14 competed head to head for America’s vote of 10 spots. One of the most talent filled seasons of America’s favorite singing competition is full of twists, turns, and of course amazing performers.
